Choose the background for the listing
A clean product image should make the item easy to inspect. A solid background and a transparent cutout serve different purposes: the solid version gives you control of the visible canvas, while the cutout can be reused in different compositions. Check the marketplace's current rules for your category before preparing the final image.
Photograph the whole item
Use even lighting and include the complete product. Background removal cannot restore a clipped handle or reveal a detail hidden by glare. Preserve the original so you can compare the result against the actual item, including color, shape, labels, and accessories.
Open the transparent background maker, then inspect the cutout closely. Check holes, fine wires, shiny edges, and packaging. A missing detail can misrepresent the item. Use another photo or an editor when automatic removal does not retain it.
Prepare the final canvas
Keep a transparent PNG master and place it over your chosen background in an editor. Avoid adding decorations that obscure the product. Check that the exported dimensions meet the destination's requirements; changing the background does not automatically supply the right crop or resolution. Preview the uploaded listing on a phone before publishing.
Follow how to make a background transparent for export checks. Teams switching services can use the remove.bg alternative page to plan tests before moving their photo workflow.
